Double the Consoles, Infinite Joy!

By Joshua Pack / Gaming , Nintendo

I have been wanting to talk more about games on my blog, and I think this is a great place to start. I had my other blog specifically for gaming news, but, I think it’s time to bring it all together here. I don’t have the time to be updating multiple blogs, so I figured I would just start posting about games here.

Nintendo Direct

Is there anything better than waking up to a fresh Nintendo Direct? Yes, there is, waking up to a Nintendo Direct that blows the doors wide open on the next generation of portable gaming!

Today’s Nintendo Partner Showcase was an absolute thrill ride. We didn’t just get incredible news for our beloved Nintendo Switch 2; we got a spectacular look at the future with a treasure trove of titles announced for the Nintendo Switch too!

It’s an amazing time to be a Nintendo fan. Whether you’re holding onto your trusty original Switch or getting ready to buy the Switch 2, 2026 is shaping up to be an unforgettable year of gaming.

Here is a breakdown of the biggest highlights from today’s showcase.

Welcome to the Next Gen: Switch 2 Exclusives!

The curtain has truly been pulled back, and the lineup of more games for the Nintendo Switch 2 is looking stellar. The showcase highlighted the power of the new system with some breathtaking exclusives launching this year.

Orbitals (Summer 2026): This gorgeous, intergalactic co-op puzzle adventure looks like the perfect game to play with a friend on the couch. The vibrant colors are going to pop on that new screen!

Hollow Knight: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Out Now!): Team Cherry surprised everyone! The modern classic is back with enhanced visuals and improved frame rates specifically for the new hardware. If you own the original on Switch version, the upgrade is free!

Resident Evil Requiem (Feb 27, 2026): Capcom is bringing the scares early! A brand new entry starring Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcraft is landing right near the console’s launch window.

Pragmata (April 24, 2026): It’s finally real! The mysterious lunar adventure featuring hacking and shooting is almost here, and it looks absolutely stunning.

We also got glimpses of the survival thriller Tokyo Scramble and the return of a classic dinosaur hunter in Turok Origins. The future is looking very bright!

Bethesda Bringing the Heavy Hitters to the Switch 2!

In perhaps the most jaw-dropping moment of the Direct for some, Bethesda Softworks announced they are bringing some of their biggest, most beloved RPGs to a Nintendo platform for the very first time via the Switch 2. This is a dream come true for portable RPG fans!

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered: It’s time to return to Cyrodiil! This meticulously recreated classic, including the Shivering Isles expansion, is coming this year. Closing shut the jaws of Oblivion on the go? Yes, please!

Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition (Feb 24, 2026): The wasteland is calling. The massive base game plus all six expansions and Creation Club content will be available almost immediately.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (May 12, 2026): Grab your whip and fedora for a cinematic globe-trotting adventure arriving just in time for summer blockbuster season.

The Best of Both Worlds & Huge Ports

Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo did a fantastic job of showing that the original Switch family is still getting love, while also securing massive third-party ports for the new system.

I am incredibly excited that Cloud Strife’s journey continues when Final Fantasy VII Rebirth hits Nintendo Switch 2 on June 3rd. Furthermore, the Viking survival phenomenon Valheim is bringing its 10-player co-op chaos to the Switch 2 later this year. Been having a blast with it on my Steam Deck!

But let’s not forget the cross-generation goodness! It’s wonderful to see games that will be available to everyone, regardless of which Switch you own:

Digimon Story: Time Stranger (July 10): A time-traveling RPG with over 450 Digimon to collect? Sign us up!

Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters: Get ready for some sensational, over-the-top arcade soccer action later this year.

Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse (Feb 19): A spooky mystery adventure that you can play on your current Switch very soon.

A Joyful Year Ahead

From brand new IPs like Orbitals to legendary franchises like Fallout and Final Fantasy finally arriving on portable Nintendo hardware, this Direct was a celebration of gaming on Nintendo.

The transition into the Nintendo Switch 2 era is beginning to get better, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s time to start clearing off that SD card space, I’m going to need it! What were your favorite announcements?
